Fran -- Freelance Editor

Fran is a Washington, D.C., freelance writer and editor, whose work has appeared in National Geographic Books, The Washington Post, The Miami Herald and People magazine. Recently, she has content edited three manuscripts for National Geographic Books, including a memoir about one photographer’s years covering Muslims throughout the world, as well as doing freelance clean reading projects for private authors.

Fran has a painstaking eye for detail and hates to see good writing ruined by bad (or no) editing. She’s a champion speller who thinks grammar and diction get short shrift in today’s world. She’s trying to ward off the onslaught of misspelled words, bad punctuation and fractured logic by raising her kids to value the well-written word.

Fran’s writing and editing topics – like her personal interests – vary widely, from food to sports, crime to natural disasters, health to home and design, from celebrities to politicians and small-town heroes.

She began her career as a copy editor for Miami’s New Times and later spent more than a decade reporting and writing for the Miami Herald and People before turning to freelance book editing.

Fran is available for both copyediting and more intensive content editing.  For more information, contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
