With over twenty years in the publishing industry, Laura C. Wood is Associate Publisher of Council Oak Books, an independent book publisher, where she developed and edited such titles as Thank God for Evolution: How the Marriage of Science and Religion Will Transform Your Life and Our World, as well as the nature titles,Sanctuary: Global Oases of Innocence and Donkey: The Mystique of Equus Asinus, with the Dancing Star Foundation. She published the novel Chateau Beyond Time, which received a starred Publishers Weeklyreview. Previously Wood was the Science & Nature buyer for Barnes&Noble.com and popular science reviewer for Book of the Month Club. At the Harmony Books imprint of Crown she acquired and edited the backlist perennial The Consumer’s Guide to Effective Environmental Choices: Practical Advice from the Union of Concerned Scientists (Three Rivers Press trade paperback original) and The Fuzzy Future by Bart Kosko. Wood has worked for two university presses, Duke University Press and Columbia University Press and holds a Master’s Degree in Publishing Studies fromNew York University. Early in her publishing careerWood was an assistant at the Conde Nast publicationsVogue and Glamour.
